"טרון: המורשת" – פיתוח המשכי

פיתוח לסרט המשך ל"טרון: המורשת" הוכרז באוקטובר 2010 על ידי יוצר סדרת הסרטים, סטיבן ליסברגר, כאשר התסריטאים של "מורשת", אדוארד קיציס ואדם הורוביץ התעתדו לחזור לכתוב את התסריט.[1][2] באפריל 2011, הבמאי ג'וזף קוסינסקי הצהיר כי התסריט עדיין בפיתוח.[2] ב-31 במרץ, מסר קוסינסקי כי התסריט היה צפוי להסתיים.[3] ביוני, דווח שהתסריטאי, דייוויד דיגיליו צורף לכתיבת התסריט, וקיציס והורביץ פרשו מן פרויקט הסרט לפיתוח סדרת הטלוויזיה "עד עצם היום הזה".[4] במרץ 2012, מסר ברוס בוקסלייטנר שהצילומים עתידיים להתחיל ב-2014, לאחר שקוסינסקי ביים באותה תקופה את הסרט "אבדון".[5] ביוני 2012, לאחר פרישתם, חשפו קיציס והורוביץ שהם מעורבים בפרויקט הסרט,[6] ולאחר מכן, בדצמבר, צורף ג'סי ויגטו לשכתוב התסריט.[7] בנוסף, אושר כי בוקסלייטנר וגארט הדלונד ישובו לסרט המשך.[5]

במרץ 2022, בזמן שכיכב בסרט "מורביוס", אישר לטו שהסרט עדיין בתהליכי הפקה.[21] בינואר 2023, דייוויס פרש מתפקידו כבמאי, כאשר יואכים רונינג קיבל את התפקיד.[22] ורמטה פרשה גם כמעצבת הפקה.[20] ביוני, אוון פיטרס, ג'ודי טרנר-סמית' וגרטה לי הצטרפו לצוות השחקנים.[23][24][25] ביולי, קמרון מונאהן ושרה דז'רדן הצטרפו לצוות השחקנים.[26][27] בינואר 2024, ג'יליאן אנדרסון הצטרפה לצוות השחקנים.[28]

צילומי הסרט התעתדו להתחיל בוונקובר[22] ב-14 באוגוסט 2023, אך נדחה עקב שביתת התסריטאים ושביתת אמני הטלוויזיה והרדיו (2023).[29][30] לאחר סיום השביתות, נודע כי הצילומים התעתדו להתחיל בתחילת 2024.[31][32] בינואר 2024, חשף רונינג שתהליכי הפקה החלה.[33][34][35]
