דלקת עורקים (באנגלית: Arteritis) היא מצב רפואי בו יש דלקת בדפנות העורקים בדרך כלל כתוצאה מזיהום או תגובה אוטואימונית. דלקת עורקים היא הפרעה מורכבת ועדיין לא מובנת לחלוטין[1]. דלקת עורקים עשויה להיות מובחנת על ידי סוגיה השונים, בהתבסס על מערכות האיברים שנפגעו מהמחלה[1]. סיבוך של דלקת עורקים הוא פקקת, שעלולה להיות קטלנית. דלקת עורקים ופלביטיס הם צורות של דלקת כלי הדם. הסימפטומים של דלקת עורקים כוללים: דלקות, חום, ייצור מוגבר של כדוריות דם, צליעה ודופק מופחת[2]. אבחון דלקת עורקים מבוסס על תסמינים רפואיים חריגים[3]. תסמינים דומים עשויים להיגרם ממספר מצבים אחרים, כמו תסמונת אהלר-דנלוס ותסמונת מרפן (שניהם הפרעות תורשתיות של רקמת חיבור), שחפת, עגבת, ספונדרואתרופתיה, תסמונת קוגן, מחלת בירגר, מחלת בכצ'ט ומחלת קוואסאקי[3].

ניתן להשתמש בטכניקות הדמיה שונות לאבחון וניטור התקדמות המחלה. שיטות הדמיה עשויות לכלול אנגיוגרפיה ישירה, אנגיוגרפיה תהודה מגנטית ואולטרא-סונוגרפיה[3].הטיפול קו-ראשון בדלקת עורקים הוא תרופות גלוקוקורטיקואידים דרך הפה, כמו פרדניזון, הנלקחות מדי יום לתקופה של שלושה חודשים[2]. לאחר שלב ראשוני זה, התרופות עשויות להיות מופחתות במינון או בתדירות[2]. אם המחלה מחמירה עם לוח הזמנים החדש של הטיפול, ניתן לתת תרופה ציטוטוקסית בנוסף לגלוקוקורטיקואיד[2]. חומרים ציטוטוקסיים נפוצים כוללים אזתיופרין, מתוטרקסט או ציקלופוספמיד[2]. מינון התרופות לגלוקוקורטיקואידים עשוי להיות מופחת אם התגובה לטיפול טובה[2]. תרופה זו עשויה להיות מופחתת בהדרגה לאחר שהמחלה הופכת לחסרת פעילות, ולהקטין לאט את המינון (כדי לאפשר לגוף להסתגל זמן) עד להפסקת הטיפול התרופתי לחלוטין. לעומת זאת, אם המחלה תישאר פעילה, יהיה צורך להגביר את התרופות[2]. לאחר שישה חודשים, אם לא ניתן להפחית את התרופות בתדירות לימים חלופיים, או אם בתוך 12 חודשים לא ניתן להפסיק לחלוטין את התרופות, הטיפול נחשב ככושל[2].
