מייג'ור גנרל ג'ון היל CB DSO (באנגלית: John Hill;‏ 14 בינואר 1866 - 8 בינואר 1935) היה קצין בכיר בצבא הודו הבריטית במהלך מלחמת העולם הראשונה.

ביוגרפיה

היל נולד בבנגלור ב-14 בינואר 1866,והתחנך בבית הספר בדפורד ובמכללה הצבאית המלכותית, סנדהרסט.[1] הוא הוסמך כקצין בחיל הרגלים הקל של אוקספורדשייר ובקינגהאמשייר ב-1887, ולאחר מכן עבר לרגימנט הסיקים ה-15 של לודיאנה.[1] הוא שירת בבורמה ובהודו במהלך משלחת צ'ין לושי, בין 1889 ל-1890, משלחת מירנזאי השנייה, ב-1891, משלחת צ'יטרל, ב-1895, ומסע טירה, בין 1897 ל-1898.[1]

במהלך מלחמת העולם הראשונה הוא לחם במערכת גליפולי ב-1915.[1] בספטמבר 1917 מונה למפקד הדיוויזיה ה-52 (לואולנד) ולחם עמה במערכה בסיני ובארץ ישראל. הדיוויזיה ה-52 הסקוטית בפיקוד מייג'ור גנרל ג'ון היל חצתה את מעברות הירקון ב-27 בדצמבר 1917 ולכדה את העמדות העות'מאניות מצפון לו. יחידות חיל המשלוח הרחיבו אחיזתן מצפון לירקון עד צפונה לשפיים של ימינו.

מאפריל 1918 לחם בחזית המערבית לפני מסירת פיקודו בספטמבר 1918. [2]

היל מונה כעוזר למלך ג'ורג' החמישי ב-1916 וקיבל תואר מפקד מסדר האימפריה הבריטית ב-1918. הוא פרש ב-1920 ומת בלונדון ב-8 בינואר 1935. [3] כיכר היל בתל אביב נקראת על שמו.
