Ós 17 anos xa tiña actuado en cine e televisión xunto con Kevin Costner, Jimmy Smits e Kim Delaney. O maior papel da súa carreira foi Dog Star na miniserie producida por Steven Spielberg Into the West, que se emitiu en TNT. Pode falar lakota pero non de forma fluída. Ensináronlle o seu pai e o seu avó, pero aínda o está a aprender. Durante a rodaxe de Into the West tomou leccións dun lingüista.[2]
