Laca

A laca é unha secreción resinosa e translúcida producida polo insecto Laccifer lacca (Coccoidea), de onde toma o nome, que habita sobre varias plantas, sobre todo na India e o leste de Asia. Esta secreción áchase pegada ás ramas da planta invadida, e nela está encerrado o insecto durante case toda a súa vida. Unha vez colleitada, moída e cocida con outras resinas e minerais, convértese en goma laca, usada en vernices (transparentes ou con cor), tintas, lacres, adhesivos etc.

Vernices ao alcol

Trátase de resinas sintéticas ou naturais que se disolven en alcohol, que se secan por evaporación rápida do disolvente, e a miúdo contan cun proceso de curado que produce un acabado de dureza, cun aspecto que vai desde o brillo ó mate. En ocasións pode requirir un puído.

As resinas usadas comunmente son: gomas lacas, dammar e sandáraca (resinas brandas), colofonia e resinas formofenólicas. Como solventes utilízanse o alcohol etílico e o metílico. Son de secado rápido, empregándose para protexer madeiras, paneis etc. aplicando unha película incolora e brillante.
