Don Balón

Don Balón foi unha revista deportiva semanal editada en España, con sede en Barcelona, durante o último cuarto do século XX e especializada en fútbol.

Traxectoria

A revista comezou a publicarse o 7 de outubro de 1975. Editábao a firma Editorial Don Balón S.A., dirixida por Rogelio Rengel dende 1977, e participada entre outros polo xornalista Luis del Olmo. A redacción estivo sempre localizada en Barcelona.

Durante os seus anos de vida foi unha das revistas deportivas máis importantes de España. Nela colaboraron xornalistas como José María García ou Mercedes Milá. Tiña distribución por todo o mundo e dicía contar cunha rede de correspondentes en máis de 50 países. Ofreceu números extra dedicados a competicións específicas de fútbol, mantivo unha web e foi a encargada de organizar dende 1976 un premio anual que levaba o seu nome. O Premio Don Balón tiña diversas categorías: mellor futbolista español, mellor futbolista estranxeiro en España, mellor xogador revelación, mellor árbitro de fútbol etc. Ademais, Don Balón concedeu entre 1984 e 1997 os Premios Literarios Don Balón, que constaban de dúas modalidades: o Premio Don Balón de Novela e Ensaio, e o Premio de poesía deportiva Juan Antonio Samaranch.

Desde 1989, Don Balón era membro da European Sports Magazines, asociación que abangue publicacións como a World Soccer (Inglaterra), Kicker (Alemaña) e A Bola (Portugal), entre outras, e que concede o premio Bota de Ouro ao máximo goleador das ligas europeas. Ademais, desde 2010, Don Balón colaborou co videoxogo Netliga ao que lle cedía puntuacións sobre xogadores.

As dificultades económicas da revista e a mala xestión[1] levárona a pechar o 6 de setembro de 2011.
