Historia e características

Primeiro voo en 1969

Foi construído a partir do conxunto dos traballos dos fabricantes British Aircraft Corporation británico e Aérospatiale francés.

En 1969 realizou o seu primeiro voo, entrando en servizo en 1976 e voando durante 27 anos, até a súa saída de circulación en 2003. Os seus principais destinos foron os aeroportos de Heathrow en Londres, Reino Unido, París-Charles de Gaulle en París, Francia, o JFK en Nova York, o Dulles en Washington, ambos dous nos Estados Unidos, así como o Aeroporto Internacional Benito Juárez da Cidade de México e o Maiquetia, aeroporto que lle serve á cidade de Caracas, Venezuela, sendo estes dous últimos os únicos destinos regulares deste avión en Latinoamérica.

Pode chegar aos destinos na metade do tempo do que tarda un avión comercial convencional debido á súa maior velocidade.
