Debuxos cerámicos en Terroso

A cerámica castrexa facíase á man ou a torno ou roda, aínda que predomina a feita á man. Nótanse en moitos casos os sinais de alisado e de espatulado; noutros as paredes exteriores das vasillas aparecen moito máis puidas, dando ás veces a sensación de levaren un lixeiro engobe de cor cinza ou case negro. Un dos aspectos máis representativos é o gran contido de mica como elemento desengraxante.

Os perfís predominantes nas vasillas son os globulares ou esferoides. O máis habitual é que conten cunha ou máis asas, e que teñan os bordos exvasados e planos e os pés ou fondo sen realzar, aínda que deste último tipo exista algunha excepción singular.

Os temas decorativos son comúns na plástica castrexa: incisións en forma de liñas oblicuas, horizontais ou verticais paralelas, ou ben compoñendo triángulos, así como estampacións en forma de espiña de peixe, estrixilos, eses (SSSS) ou figuracións entrelazadas, e tamén aplicacións en forma de mamelóns ou de cordóns, así como outros motivos ornamentais variados. A maior parte, porén, é lisa e non leva decoración.

A cerámica simultaneaba o seu uso con útiles de cestería e de madeira. As pezas grandes servirían para gardar o gran ou outros alimentos e como depósito de líquidos; outras, para usos diversos no fogar ou na lareira, e as máis pequenas para comer e beber; tamén aparecen asadores (ou ben escoadeiras ou "queixeiras"), pezas moi características polos furados que teñen no seu fondo e nas paredes. Os materiais eran locais e a fabricación tamén, en fornos pequenos.
