Robert Nastanovich, nado o 27 de agosto de 1967 en Rochester, Nova York, é un músico estadounidense coñecido por ser membro da banda de indie rock Pavement, ademais de ter tocado en Silver Jews, Ectoslavia, Pale Horse Riders e Misshapen Lodge.

Biografía

Bob Nastanovich naceu en Rochester, Nova York, e cando estaba na escola a súa familia mudouse a Richmond, Virxinia. Foi alumno da Universidade de Virxinia onde coñeceu a Stephen Malkmus de Pavement e ao futuro líder de Silver Jews David Berman. Os tres mudáronse a Jersey City, Nova Jersey, vivindo e traballando xuntos como gardas de seguridade en galerías de arte. Nastanovich tamén traballou como condutor de autobuses e encargado de terminal en Nova York e Hoboken. Durante ese período Malkmus reuniuse co seu vello amigo Scott Kannberg para crear o primeiro álbum de Pavement, Slanted and Enchanted, no estudio caseiro do batería Gary Young. Tamén nesa época plantouse a semente para o nacemento de Silver Jews (Nastanovich, Malkmus e Berman).

Nastanovich, tras entrar na banda en 1990, realizou distintas funcións: coros, percusión, harmónica e teclados. Inicialmente o seu rol principal era o de axudar a marcar os tempos, concentrando eficazmente os esforzos do distraído e excéntrico Young. Nastanovich permaneceu como membro do grupo tras a saída de Young, aínda que Steve West converteuse no novo batería.

Nastanovich foi o vocalista principal en directo nas cancións "Debris SLide", "Conduit for Sale", e "Unfair". É coñecido pola súa presenza no escenario e pola súa forma característica de berrar.[1]

Nastanovich tamén tocou en varios discos de Silver Jews. Foi tour manager con Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, The Frogs, Huggy Bear, Fila Brazillia (road crew) e Silver Jews. Ademais tocou en discos de Palace Brothers, Tall Dwarfs e Pale Horse Riders. Nastanovich tamén é membro da banda de improvisación post-rock Misshapen Lodge, formada en Kingston upon Hull, Inglaterra, nunha das súas visitas á cidade.

Bob xuntouse a Pavement para a súa xira de reunión no ano 2010.[2]

No presente é co-presentador do 3 Songs Podcast con Mike Hogan[3] e dirixe Broker's Tip Records, un selo que edita sinxelos de 7 polgadas.[4]
