Le genre Nesophontes, le seul de la famille des Nesophontidae, comprend plusieurs espèces américaines, sortes de musaraignes, toutes éteintes.

Ce genre a été créé en 1916 par le mammalogiste américain Harold Elmer Anthony (1890-1970).
