Gunnar Steinn Jónsson, né le à Akureyri, est un joueur de handball islandais évoluant au poste de demi-centre.

Après avoir évolué pendant deux saisons au HBC Nantes puis au VfL Gummersbach, il évolue depuis 2016 dans le club suédois de l'IFK Kristianstad.

En 2014, il participe au championnat d'Europe 2014 avec l'équipe nationale d'Islande, terminés à la 5e place. Un an plus tard, il participe au Championnat du monde 2015.
