Yevlaxin piirikunta

Yevlaxin piiri Azerbaidžanin kartalla.

Yevlaxin piirikunta (azer. Yevlax rayonu, ven. Евлахский район, Jevlahski raion) on paikallishallintoalue Azerbaidžanissa. Vuonna 1935 perustetun piirin pinta-ala on 1540 neliökilometriä. Asukkaita on 118 300 henkeä (vuonna 2010).[1]

Yevlaxin piiri sijaitsee Azerbaidžanin keskiosan tasankoseudulla. Se rajoittuu pohjoisessa Qaxin ja Şəkin, idässä Ağdaşin, etelässä Bərdən ja Tərtərin sekä lännessä Goranboyn ja Samuxin piireihin. Yevlaxin piirin keskellä on erillinen Mingəçevirin kaupunkialue. Seudun halki virtaa Kurajoki.

Piirin keskus on siihen kuulumaton, omana erillisenä hallintoalueenaan toimiva Yevlaxin kaupunki, josta on 287 kilometriä maan pääkaupunkiin Bakuun. Toinen huomattavampi paikkakunta on Aranin kaupunkimainen taajama. Kuntia on yhteensä 32, taajamia 2 ja kyliä 47. Kaupunkiväestön osuus on 55,1 % (vuonna 2010).[1] Vuoden 1999 väestönlaskennan mukaan asukkaista 98,4 % on azereja ja 0,8 % kurdeja.[2]

Piirin kautta kulkee Bakusta Georgian rajalle johtava M1-valtatie sekä Bakun ja Tbilisin välinen rautatie, josta haarautuvat sivuradat Balakəniin, Bərdəän ja Mingəçeviriin. Yevlah on huomattava teollisuuskeskus, jossa tuotetaan muun muassa elintarvikkeita, tupakkaa ja rakennustarvikkeita. Maatalous on erikoistunut viljan, puuvillan ja vihannesten viljelyyn sekä karjanhoitoon.

Historiallisia nähtävyyksiä ovat Qoçtəpən, Zərgərtəpən ja Üçtəpən kurgaanit, muinaisen Ərəşin kaupunginmuurien jäänteet, Xaldan kylän lähellä sijaitseva hautakammio, Marzılın kylän pyhäkkö sekä Malbinəsin moskeijan rauniot.
