The Dubliners

The Dubliners noin vuonna 2005. Vasemmalta oikealle Eamonn Campbell, John Sheahan, Barney McKenna, Séan Cannon ja Patsy Watchorn.

The Dubliners oli vuonna 1962 Dublinissa perustettu yhtye, joka esitti irlantilaista kansanmusiikkia. Yhtyeen alkuperäisjäseniä olivat Ronnie Drew (laulu, kitara), Luke Kelly (laulu, banjo, kitara), Ciaran Bourke (tinapilli, huuliharppu, kitara, laulu) ja Barney McKenna.

Yhtyeen alkuperäinen nimi oli ”The Ronnie Drew Group”.[1] Se kuitenkin päätettiin vaihtaa The Dublinersiksi James Joycen Dublinilaisia-novellikokoelman (engl. Dubliners) mukaan. Yhtye levytti kymmeniä albumeja ja kiersi konsertoimassa viisi vuosikymmentä. Se teki myös yhteistyötä muiden artistien ja kokoonpanojen, kuten The Poguesin kanssa.

The Dublinersin viimeisen alkuperäisjäsenen, McKennan, kuoltua huhtikuussa 2012 myös John Sheahan – joka liittyi yhtyeeseen vain kaksi vuotta perustamisen jälkeen – päätti siirtyä jo sovittujen vuoden 2012 konserttien jälkeen eläkkeelle. Yhtyeen muut jäsenet ovat jatkaneet vielä konsertointia, mutta nimellä Dublin Legends.[2][3]
