Sedentismi

Sedentismi tarkoittaa antropologiassa ja arkeologiassa kiinteää asutusta vastakohtana riistan tai vuodenaikojen mukaan siirtyvälle asutukselle.[1] Vanhassa maailmassa varhaista varmennettua sedentismiä liittyi Natufin kulttuuriin Lähi-idässä noin 12 000 eaa. Tämän kulttuurin ihmiset metsästivät, kalastivat ja keräsivät palkokasveja, villiviljaa ja pähkinöitä.[2] Sedentismin vastakohta on vuodenaikojen mukaan riistan ja muiden luonnon antimien perässä tapahtuva vuotuiskierto tai muu nomadinen vaeltaminen.
