Mark Cerny on yhdysvaltalainen videopelien ja pelikonsolien kehittäjä ja suunnittelija. Hän aloitti vuonna 1982 Atarilla.[1]

Ura

Atarilla Cerny suunnitteli ja ohjelmoi 1984 julkaistun pelin Marble Madness.[1] Hän on työskennellyt muun muassa Segalle.[2] Työskennellessään Segalle hän oppi japanin kielen, josta oli hyötyä PlayStationin kehityspaketin saamisessa Crystal Dynamicsille.[3] Cernyn mukaan Shuhei Yoshida vaikutti siihen, että hän sai pääsyn PlayStationin kehityspakettiin vaikka se oli vastoin silloisia sääntöjä. Myöhemmin Yoshida oli vaikuttamassa, että Cerny otettiin mukaan PlayStation 4:n kehitykseen.[4]

Vuonna 1994 Cerny nousi Universal Interactive Studiosin johtoon.[5] Hän on ollut tuottamassa pelejä kuten Naughty Dogin Crash Bandicoot ja Insomniac Gamesin Spyro the Dragon.[3][5] Vuonna 1998 hän perusti konsultaatioyrityksen Cerny Games.[6][5]

Cerny on toiminut PlayStation 4 ja PlayStation 5 -konsolien pääsuunnittelijana.[7][8][9]

Cernylle myönnettiin vuonna 2004 International Game Developers Associationin elämäntyöpalkinto ja hänet liitettiin Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciencesin Hall of Fameen vuonna 2010.[6]
