Kelkkapuisto talvella 2010

Kontulan kelkkapuisto (myös kutsumanimi Kessa tai Kessan mäki nyttemmin jo puretun Kesoilin huoltoaseman mukaan; ruots. Gårdsbacka kälkparken) on Helsingin Kontulassa sijaitseva vapaa-ajan alue. Kelkkapuistossa on muun muassa skeittiramppeja, ja talvisin puisto on suosittu pulkkailupaikka. Kelkkapuistossa on näiden aktiviteettien ohella tarjolla myös tiloja muun muassa ratagolf- ja koiraharrastajille.

Kelkkapuiston kumpareet on muotoiltu ylijäämämassoista. Kumpareet antavat hyvän lähtökohdan puiston toiminnoille ja suojaavat naapuritaloja. Kumpareiden päällä ja rinteillä kasvaa mäntymetsikköä, ja reuna-alueilla enimmäkseen lehtipuita. Puistosta etelään sijaitsee Myllypuron lämpökeskus.

Skeittipuisto suunniteltiin yhdessä nuorten kanssa. Suunnittelutyöt aloitettiin vuonna 1999 Kontulan lähiöasemalla etsimällä puistolle sopivaa paikkaa, jossa melu ei häiritsi naapureita ja jonne olisi helppo tulla; valinta oli Kelkkapuisto. Skeittaajien ja bleidareiden suunnitteluryhmä teki Kontulan paikallisagenda-ryhmän, Kivikko Seuran ja lähiöprojektin tukemana opintomatkan Tukholman Söderiin. Matkan pohjalta nuoret suunnittelivat haluamansa rampit, ja lopulta puisto valmistui vuonna 2002. Hankkeen rinnalla Kontulan väestönsuojaan saatiin sisäskeittihalli.[1]

Kelkkapuistossa on myös vuodesta 2003 asti järjestetty vuotuinen KontuFestari, jossa on ollut joka vuosi noin 10 000–15 000 kävijää. Maksuton festari on Itä-Helsingin suurin kulttuuritapahtuma.[2]
