Kai Palm

Kalle "Kai" Palm (s. 28. tammikuuta 1948 Nurmes) on suomalainen romanitaustainen muusikko. Hän on aloittanut jo nuorena poikana 1960-luvulla junissa muusikonuran laulamalla harmonikansoittaja Topi Ahosen säestämänä, mutta ammattimaisesti viimeistään kuusitoistavuotiaana. Bändimuusikkona toimittuaan hän on saanut aikaan myös kaksi pitkäsoittoista levyä. Muusikkona Palm on monitaitoinen: laulunsa lisäksi hän käsittelee akustista ja bassokitaraa sekä rumpuja.[1]

Jo 1970-luvulla tehty LP-levy Tširigli on Palmin omia tekstejä ja sävellyksiä. Sointi on persoonallinen ja pehmeä. Levylle mahtuu kahdeksan romaninkielistä lähinnä blues- ja rock-tyyppistä iskelmää, joista Soske jeeal toori on varsin nopeatempoinen rautalankarockesitys. Suomenkieliset kappaleet ovat hyytäviä tangoja, erityisesti Valheen kyyneleet. Muusikkona Palm on monitaitoinen: käsittelee kitaraa, bassokitaraa ja rumpuja.[2]

Myöhemmin Kai Palm on tehnyt työtä lasten kanssa arvostaen kieltään ja taustaansa. Romanilapset laulavat -vihko on ilmestynyt opetushallituksen tuottamana. Laulut ovat Kai Palmin.
