Jules Lemaître

Jules Lemaître (1853–1914) oli ranskalainen kriitikko, kirjallisuudentutkija ja kirjailija[1]. Hän kritisoi aikalaisten tuotantoa impressionistisissa artikkeleissa.[2]

Lemaître aloitti uransa kirjallisuusarvostelijana Revue bleue ja Figaro -lehdissä sekä teatteriarvostelijana Journal des débats -lehdessä. Hän saavutti ensiluokkaisen tyylitaiturin maineen. Lemaîtren draamallinen esikoinen oli La Révoltée (1889) (esitetty Odéon-teatterissa). Lemaîtren muut huomattavimmat näytelmät ovat Le député Leveau (1890), Les Rois (1893), Le pardon (1895), L’âge difficile (1895), La Massière (1905). Hänen kriittisistä teoksistaan tunnetuin on pirteästi, henkevästi, joskin useissa kohdin pakinatyyliin kirjoitettu teatteriarvostelusarja Impressions de Théâtre.[3]
