Hevostamma (Equus caballus caballus) imettää varsaa.

Hevoseläimet[1][2] eli aasit, hevoset ja seeprat[3] (Equidae) on kavioeläimiin kuuluva, hevosen kaltaisten eläinten heimo. Kaikki heimon nykyiset lajit kuuluvat sukuun Equus. Hevoseläimiin kuuluvat sekä luonnonvaraiset että ihmisen kesyttämät hevoset, aasit ja seeprat.

Nisäkäsnimistötoimikunta on ehdottanut, että heimon suomenkieliseksi nimeksi vaihdettaisiin hevoset.[3]

Lajit

Hevoseläinten heimoon kuuluu kahdeksan lajia, joilla on lukuisia alalajeja.[4]
