Emperor of Sand on yhdysvaltalaisen metalliyhtye Mastodonin seitsemäs studioalbumi, joka julkaistiin 31. maaliskuuta 2017 levymerkillä Reprise Records.[1] Albumin konsepti ja tarina käsittelevät aavikolla vaeltavaa miestä, jolle on langetettu kuolemanrangaistus. Aihe toimii myös metaforana vakavalle sairaudelle ja tuomiolle.[7]

Julkaisu

Albumin kappalelistaus, kansikuva sekä maistiainen yhtyeen ensisinglestä ”Sultan’s Curse” julkaistiin yhtyeen kotisivulla 25. tammikuuta 2017[2], ja kappale julkaistiin kokonaisuudessaan 27. tammikuuta 2017.[4] Toinen kappale ”Show Yourself” julkaistiin 3. helmikuuta 2017.[5] Kolmas ja viimeisin single ”Andromeda” julkaistiin 7. maaliskuuta 2017.[6]
