Deutschösterreich, du herrliches Land ("Saksalainen Itävalta, sinä ihana maa"), Itävallassa myös Renner-Kienzl-Hymne, oli Itävallan ensimmäisen tasavallan epävirallinen kansallislaulu vuosina 1920–1929.

Historia

Laulun sanat kirjoitti vuonna 1920 liittokansleri Karl Renner; sävellyksen teki itävaltalainen säveltäjä Wilhelm Kienzl. Tarkoituksena oli luoda tasavaltainen vastine Itävallan keisarikunnan kansallislaululle Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiserille.[1]

Renner oli allekirjoittanut Itävallan puolesta Saint-Germainin rauhan 10. syyskuuta 1919. Voittajien vaatimuksesta valtiota ei enää saanut kutsua "Saksalaiseksi Itävallaksi" (Deutschösterreich), kuten väliaikainen kansalliskokous oli päättänyt lokakuussa 1918, vaan Itävallan tasavallaksi, koska voittajat eivät halunneet valtion yhdistyvän Saksan keisarikunnan kanssa.[2] Renner kuitenkin käytti sanoituksessa tasavallan alkuperäistä nimeä.

"Renner-Kienzl-Hymne" ei koskaan saavuttanut suurta suosiota: sävelmä ei ollut tarpeeksi tarttuva eivätkä sanat tarpeeksi kiinnostavat. Suosion puutteen vuoksi tuolloin vallassa ollut kristillissosiaalinen hallitus korvasi laulun Carl Vaugoinin pyynnöstä vuonna 1929 uudella liittohymnillä Sei gesegnet ohne Ende. Puoluepoliittisten erimielisyyksien vuoksi Heinrich Srbikin johtama opetusministeriö päätti vuonna 1930, että virallisissa yhteyksissä lauletaan vain uusi kansallislaulu. Aiemmin samoissa yhteyksissä käytetty Deutschösterreich, du herrliches Land, jota ei koskaan ollut julistettu viralliseksi kansallislauluksi, jäi nyt ainoastaan epävirallisiin yhteyksiin.[1]

Wo deiner Söhne Knochen nicht bleichen?
Endlich brachst du die Ketten entzwei,
