Da’Vine Joy Randolph (s. 21. toukokuuta 1986 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Yhdysvallat[1]) on yhdysvaltalainen näyttelijä, joka aloitti uransa 2010-luvun alussa teatterista ja on siirtynyt sitten myös elokuviin ja televisioon. Hän oli 2012 Tony-ehdokkaana heti ensimmäisestä Broadway-roolistaan. Randolphin elokuvia ovat muun muassa Dolemite Is My Name ja The Holdovers, josta hän on voittanut Golden Globen, Baftan, SAG-palkinnon ja Oscar-palkinnon.

Opiskelu

Randolph aloitti korkeakouluopintonsa Temple-yliopistossa. Hän opiskeli klassista laulua ja haaveili ooperalaulajan urasta. Randolph sai ensimmäisenä opiskeluvuonna pääosan Aida-oopperan yliopistotuotannosta. Hän hakeutui näyttelijäntyön opettajan luo roolia varten, mutta hänet erotettiin tämän jälkeen oopperalinjalta, koska tämän epäilytiin haluavan salaa näyttelijäksi. Randolph vaihtoi tämän jäljeen suuntautumisalaa musikaaliteatteriin. Alemman korkeakoulututkinnon jälkeen Randolph jatkoi Yalen yliopiston draamakouluun, mistä hän valmistui 2011 maisteriksi.[2]

Ura

Randolph sai marraskuussa 2011 roolin Broadwayllä elokuvan Ghost – näkymätön rakkaus musikaalisovituksesta. Roolia ei oltu vielä julkistettu, kun hänet kutsuttiin Lontooseen näyttelemään sama osa Sharon D. Clarken loukkaannuttua. Ghostin ensi-ilta Broadwaylla oli huhtikuussa 2012.[3] Randolph oli osastaan ehdolla parhaasta naissivuosasta musikaalissa.[4]

Randolphin ensimmäinen elokuvarooli oli vuonna 2013 elokuvasta Mother of George. Samana vuonna hän debytoi myös televisiossa, Good Wife -sarjan jaksossa. Randolph on sen jälkeen tehnyt muun muassa elokuvat Firman pikkujoulut (2016), Dolemite Is My Name (2019) ja The Lost City (2022) sekä ääninäytellyt elokuvissa Trolls: Maailmankiertue (2020) ja Saapasjalkakissa: Viimeinen toivomus (2022).[5]

Randolph sai nimeä teatterimaailman ulkopuolella elokuvasta Dolemite Is My Name, jossa hän varasti monia kohtauksia, vaikka hänen vastanäyttelijöinään olivat muun muassa Eddie Murphy ja Wesley Snipes. Hän on saanut sen jälkeen huomattavia rooleja televisiosarjoista High Fidelity ja Only Murders in the Building.[6]

Randolph näytteli vuoden 2023 elokuvassa The Holdovers sisäoppilaitoksen kokkia Mary Lambia, joka joutuu viettämään joulun happaman opettajan ja kapinallisen oppilaan kanssa. Marylle joulu on ensimmäinen, jonka hän on ilman Vietnamin sodassa kuollutta poikaansa. Randolph sai elokuvasta valtavasti tunnustusta, ja hän voitti muun muassa Golden Globen, Baftan, SAG-palkinnon ja Oscar-palkinnon.[2][7][8]
