Urketari

Hernaniko urketariak 19. mendean.

Urketaria ura banatzen edo saltzen duen pertsona da. Mendeetan zehar oso lanbide ezaguna izan zen, ur-hornidura orokortu gabe zegoenean. Hirietako iturri nagusietan biltzen ziren urez hornitzeko eta erosleen etxeetara banatzeko edo kalean saltzeko. Mota askotakoak ziren, ur korronteaz gain ur aromatizatuak eta freskagarriak saltzen zituzten urketarien berri geratu da.

Euskal Herrian

Emakumezkoen lanbidea izan zen tradizionalki urketariena Euskal Herrian. XX. mendearen hasiera arte behar-beharrezko egitekoa zen hau, ez baitzegoen txorroko urik etxeetan (ez bazen handikienetan). Ontzi berezi batzuekin, ur-suil edo ferretekin egiten zen lana, iturritik etxera ura garraiatzekoa[1].

Burua babesteko buruaren gainean sorki edo burukotea jartzen zen. Ur gehiegi ez isurtzeko burua tente eraman beharra zegoen, eta bazegoen ustezko truko bat,a uraren gainean piku-hosto bat zabal-zabal jartzea[1].
