Hosto-galarazle

Nekazaritzan, hosto-galarazlea edo defoliantea^[1]^[2] landareek hostoa galtzea eragiten duen substantzia da. Belar- eta izurri-hiltzailetzat erabiltzen dira, baita gerra kimikoan ere. Osasunerako eta ingurumenerako arriskutsuak dira.^[3] Oso toxikoa den hosto-galarazle baten adibide klasiko bat agente laranja izenekoa da, 1961tik 1970era arte Vietnamgo gerran Estatu Batuetako indar armatuek asko erabili zutena Vietnamgo zonaldeak hostoa galarazteko.^[4]

Defolianteak herbizidetatik bereizten dira, lehenengoek hostoak landareetatik askatzea bilatzen dutelako, bigarrenak landare jakin batzuen hazkuntza suntsitzeko edo inhibitzeko erabiltzen diren bitartean.

Kotoiaren ekoizpenean hosto-galtzaileak erabiltzen dituzte uztari laguntzeko.^[5]
