Sabelio

Sabelio (lat.: Sabellius, fl. ca. 215) fue un sacerdote y teólogo cristiano del siglo III que enseñó en Roma.

Tal vez fuera originario de Libia. Basilio y otros lo presentan como natural de la Pentápolis libia, pero según Dionisio de Alejandría (ca. 260) esto parece basarse en el hecho de que Pentápolis fue un lugar donde las enseñanzas que compartía Sabelio prosperaron. No contamos con copias de los escritos de Sabelio, lo conoces por las refutaciones de otros escritores.

MONARQUIANISMO. Hacia fines del siglo II, la afirmación de la continuidad entre el AT y el NT (o sea, que YHWH es el Padre de Jesucristo) trae el riesgo de confesar 2 o 3 dioses (según si se afirma o no la divinidad del Espíritu, aún reflexionada). Y la Iglesia defiende con fuerza el monoteísmo, apareciendo los debates monarquianos. En contextos helénicos, unos eliminan la distinción real entre Padre e Hijo, y en ambientes judíos, otros eliminan la divinidad del Hijo (como adopcionismo).

MODALISMO (O SABELIANISMO O PATRIPASIANISMO). Consiste en afirmar la plena identidad entre el Padre y el Hijo (o sea, en el eliminar la distinción real entre ellos) a partir de textos del Evangelio según Juan que lo sugieren (como Jn 10,30). Desde esta perspectiva, quien se encarnó y padeció es el único Dios: el Padre. Él actuó como Padre en la creación, como Hijo en la encarnación y muerte, y ahora actúa como Espíritu en la Iglesia. Es decir, son “3 modos” del único Dios. Implica una cristología totalmente divisiva pues el Padre “tomó forma” en Jesús, pero es absolutamente trascendente. Es importante resaltar que lo anterior dicho en este párrafo es sesgado por un editor sesgado a una confesión religiosa, el modalismo se explica claramente como un Jesús hombre y un Jesús Dios independientes en el tiempo, lo que no corresponde a la doctrina de la unicidad, es importante por ello referencias bibliográficas de fuentes académicas y sin sesgo religioso.[1]​ Su primer defensor es Noeto de Esmirna (entre los años 180-190). Contra él, Hipólito explica la distinción en Dios con las metáforas de la luz y el sol, o el agua y la fuente. Sabelio en Roma, y Práxeas, también defienden el modalismo. La teología de Sabelio es rechazada por el Papa Dionisio el año 262 (DH 112 y DH 115). Y Práxeas es contestado por Tertuliano
