Porto Azzurro es un municipio de la isla de Elba, perteneciente a la Provincia de Livorno (Italia), dentro de la región de Toscana. Tiene una población de 3.454 habitantes (31 de diciembre de 2004) y una superficie de 13,3 km².

Porto Azzurro limita con los municipios de Capoliveri, Portoferraio, Rio Marina y Rio nell'Elba.

Historia

Hasta 1947 era conocida como Porto Longone, perteneció a los Presidios de Toscana o Estado de los Reales Presidios, constituyeron una entidad territorial bajo soberanía de la Monarquía Hispánica entre 1557 y 1725. Durante la Guerra de Sucesión Española este y el fuerte Focardo construido en 1678 en Capoliveri. Fueron los únicos presidios que no fueron ocupados por los austriacos. Por el Tratado de Viena de 1725 pasaron a ser posesión de Carlos de España y posteriormente en 1734 quedaron bajo la soberanía del rey de Nápoles hasta su entrega en 1801 por el Tratado de Florencia a la Primera República Francesa. En 1815 como la totalidad de la isla de Elba pasó a formar parte del Gran Ducado de Toscana.
