Josef Velenovský (22 de abril de 1858 - 7 de mayo de 1949) fue un botánico, micólogo, pteridólogo y briólogo checo. También trabajó con fósiles.

Biografía

Se desempeñó como investigador y profesor en el "Instituto Botánico Universitario de Praga", alternando con su colega L.J. Čelakovský. También fue profesor de Botánica en la "Charles University", y se concentró especialmente en el estudio micológico en la mitad final de su vida. Recolectó innumerable material, particularmente de Bohemia central, describiendo al menos 2000 nuevas especies de hongos. Gran parte de sus especímenes tipo y otras colecciones se hallan en el herbario del "Museo Narodni de Praga" [1]
