Johann Gottfried Friedlein (Ratisbona, 5 de enero de 1828 - Hof, Baviera, 31 de mayo de 1875) fue un profesor e historiador de las matemáticas alemán, autor de textos sobre Boecio y sobre Proclo.[1]
Semblanza
Friedlein era hijo de un maestro panadero que falleció en 1838, dejándolo a él y a sus tres hermanos huérfanos. Se trasladó a Múnich en 1846 para estudiar filología y matemáticas en la universidad. Tras varios años de docencia en escuelas de diversas ciudades, se doctoró y fue nombrado catedrático de Matemáticas en el Gymnasium en Ansbach y desde 1868 como rector de un colegio en Hof.
Habiendo sufrido ya problemas de salud en 1871, falleció de una enfermedad pulmonar el 31 de mayo en Hof.[1]
