La arquidiócesis de María Santísima en Astaná (en latín: Archidioecesis Sanctae Mariae in Astana) es una sede episcopal metropolitana de la Iglesia católica en Kazajistán.

Territorio

La arquidiócesis incluye en la parte noreste de Kazajistán las provincias de: Akmola, Kostanay, Pavlodar, Kazajistán Septentrional y la ciudad de Nur-sultán.

La sede del arzobispado está en la ciudad de Nur-sultán, llamada Astaná hasta marzo de 2019, en donde se encuentra la catedral de Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro.

El territorio se extiende sobre 576 400 km² y se divide en 34 parroquias, agrupadas en 5 decanatos.

Historia

La administración apostólica de Astaná fue erigida el 7 de julio de 1999 con la bula Ad aptius consulendum del papa Juan Pablo II, separando territorio de la administración apostólica de Kazajistán del los latinos (hoy diócesis de Karagandá).^[1]

El 17 de mayo de 2003, mediante la bula In Cazakistania fidelium del propio papa Juan Pablo II, la administración apostólica fue elevada al rango de arquidiócesis metropolitana y tomó su nombre actual.^[2]

El 1 de junio de 2019 fue creada la administración apostólica para los fieles católicos de rito bizantino en Kazajistán y Asia Central, por lo que la arquidiócesis de María Santísima en Astaná le transfirió 3 parroquias junto con todos los fieles católicos de rito bizantino.
