La mortopuno en Uzbekio estis nuligita en 2005.[1]

Historio

En 1994, la mortopuno en Uzbekio estis antaŭvidita en dek tri artikoloj de la krimkodo (ru). Tiam, post serio da amendoj adoptitaj en la 1998-a, la 2001-a kaj la 2003-a jaroj, la nombro da artikoloj kun mortopuno estis reduktita al du[2] - tiuj estis la artikoloj pri pligravigita murdo kaj terorismo.[3]

La mortopuno kaj la momento de ĝia forigo fokusiĝis post la komenco de la proceso kontraŭ la partoprenantoj en la Andiĝona masakro - pli ol cent homoj estis akuzitaj je pligrava murdo kaj terorismo, kio povus rezulti en mortkondamno.[3]

La lasta mortopuno en Uzbekio estis efektivigita en la 2005-a jaro,[5] kio povas indiki ke ekzistis nedirita moratorio pri la altrudo de la mortopuno en la lando ekde la 2005-a jaro ĝis la ekvalido de la nova dekreto en la 2008-a jaro.[2]

En junio 2022, prezidanto Ŝavkat Mirzijojev proponis enskribi la malpermeson de la mortopuno en la konstitucio (en).[6] En la 2023-a jaro, la amendo estis enskribita en la nova konstitucio.[7]
