Hi, Sorry to be a pain, could we please ask if you would upload any new structures to commons - it's taken well over 6 months to almost clear out thousands of structures on en-wiki - see Category talk:Unclassified Chemical Structures - we are standing at 63 orphan files (structures not in use tend to be deleted - there is no way to search for them, so users tend to make new ones as required, because it takes so little time to generate a new one) and 48 in-use files (but are mainly poor jpg/gif - so are not being moved to commons until someone draws a new svg version).

Original Art Workshop
Hi Roshan - thanks for the message. I've left a reply on the Graphics Lab talk page. In coming to your talk page, I've see some general interests of you in dealing with chemistry-related illustrations. It might work well for both of our motivations to work on an (involved) original illustration each month, and perhaps to show-case it in a blog or some such. I don't think I can commit to much more than that, given the variety of projects I've neglected.
On a related note, one of the projects that is finally coming to fruition is a method of generating vector illustrations from 3D models. I'm planning to take some weekly time to model an object and blitz different views and angle of it - that would probably come in handy for assembling various pictures. If there's anything that you'd particularly need, give me a shout and I'll make that higher on the weekly list!
And btw, I do have interest in learning about 3d software like blender to create nice illustrations(actually motivated by the example image created using blender in the graphics lab page). Will definitely let you know when I find time for that. Roshan220195 (talk) 16:50, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Cool as it might be, that illustration just scratch the surface of what Blender can do nowadays - it's one of the fastest moving software. If you're interested in illustrations, once you've gotten a handle in Blender basics, check out the Freestyle experimental builds on GraphicAll - in conjunction with playing with shaders, you can get a variety of very interesting NPR effects. Hey there. Many thanks for your attention at the Graphic Lab Illustration workshop. A bad thing is, logging in individually gives nothing. My uni isn't listed in the lost. And where does a student get extra 20 pounds from? Just... Not that I'm lazy, I'm not eligible to. If I could do the vector work, I'd do it myself (will learn sometime, but not now). Hey there. Much as I would like to contribute to the graphics lab, I am now in college without a personal computer(read Inkscape) so I can't do pretty much anything. What I actually did was to google the title of the paper and click the first link to appear. A link in this page provided a PDF without any account or something(I was actually surprised at this). N imagine my surprise when it asked me for an account when I clicked the link in the graphics lab today. However, the PDF can still be viewed without an account by going via google or by removing the text after ".pdf" in the address bar(something like %7blah blah blah). Try this. We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

New deal for page patrollers

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
