At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 6,434 in 1,645 households,[6] when it was capital of the former Torkamanchay District of Mianeh County.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 7,094 people in 1,984 households.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 7,443 people in 2,366 households.[2]
In 2024, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Torkamanchay County, and Torkamanchay was transferred to the new Central District as the county's capital.[4]
