There does not appear to be any documentation or other tips on the usage of this navbox. Is it intended to be used on any air show with performers from more than one country? Should all such shows be added to the navbox? Apparently nobody knows, so I'm going to assume it means any air show where more than one nation is represented and that it is appropriate to add them to the navbox. I don't think that Dayton qualifies. I suggest that only airshows with "International" in their title be included, such as Farnborough International Airshow and Salon International de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace. So, it's just a naming distinction? Well, I mean, obviously you just made that up since you have never edited this template before and apparently followed me here, but if that a name is the only reason any of these air shows are included, you've got your work cut out for you removing all the other entries that do not say "international" in their title despite having performers and/or exhibits from more than one nation. why, there's even another edit by me that you haven't undone yet, we can't let that stand can we? Now I know how much you hate deleting anything but your newly decreed criteria is not reflected in the navbox, so get to work! I'm not an aviation expert, but I think it's common sense that an airshow which has performers and/or exhibits from more than one nation but which does not have the word "International" in its official title can still be considered an "International Airshow". • I expect you'd find that just about every airshow would qualify as international in that case. Colonel Warden (talk) 07:01, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-10-14T07:01:00.000Z","author":"Colonel Warden","type":"comment","level":5,"id":"c-Colonel_Warden-2010-10-14T07:01:00.000Z-Snottywong-2010-10-14T02:01:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
I have to agree with the Colonel that nearly all non-american airshows have foreign participation so it could include potentionally thousands of airshows. We have three groups of international airshows; the major trade shows like Berlin, Paris, Farnborough etc; the big military airshows like RIAT and the amateur flying shows like Oshkosh and Tannkosh. Not sure how you define the inclusion criteria but certainly isnt foreign representation but having the word International is probably a good starting point although international shows like Tannkosh dont use the word International. MilborneOne (talk) 07:34, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-10-14T07:34:00.000Z","author":"MilborneOne","type":"comment","level":5,"id":"c-MilborneOne-2010-10-14T07:34:00.000Z-Snottywong-2010-10-14T02:01:00.000Z","replies":["c-Snottywong-2010-10-14T13:53:00.000Z-MilborneOne-2010-10-14T07:34:00.000Z"]}}-->
I didn't say that every airshow with international participation "must" be considered an international airshow, I said that they "can" be considered as such. Removing entries from this navbox solely for the reason that they don't include the word "International" in their name is not a very creative solution, and will clearly result in a lot of false positives, as evidenced by MilborneOne. SnottyWong soliloquize 13:53, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-10-14T13:53:00.000Z","author":"Snottywong","type":"comment","level":6,"id":"c-Snottywong-2010-10-14T13:53:00.000Z-MilborneOne-2010-10-14T07:34:00.000Z","replies":["c-Ahunt-2010-10-14T16:42:00.000Z-Snottywong-2010-10-14T13:53:00.000Z"]}}-->
I would suggest that having the word "International" in the title is not a good inclusion criteria. Many airshows in Canada use "International" in their name to make them sound bigger than they are, all on the strength of perhaps one USAF F-15 coming to the show. A good example is the rather small Lethbridge International Air Show. - Ahunt (talk) 16:42, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-10-14T16:42:00.000Z","author":"Ahunt","type":"comment","level":7,"id":"c-Ahunt-2010-10-14T16:42:00.000Z-Snottywong-2010-10-14T13:53:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
  • So it seems we are back to square one. I have notified the user who initially added this template so we can perhaps get some idea of what was in mind in the first place. Obviously any air show with more than one country participating is in fact an "international" show, but I agree that could open the door to nearly every air show that exists being added. What we need is a criterion that is less arbitrary than simply the name of the show but less broad than any show with two or more countries represented. Maybe a rename and/or redefining of the navbox, splitting it so that thew largest shows are on one navbox and the smaller ones in another? What we have to remember here is that the purpose of the navbox is to aid readers in navigating the various articles, any changes we make should be made with that in mind. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:14, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-10-14T19:14:00.000Z","author":"Beeblebrox","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Beeblebrox-2010-10-14T19:14:00.000Z-Colonel_Warden-2010-10-13T06:53:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
I would suggest that the trade shows (paris, berlin) and the entertainment shows should be different navboxes. MilborneOne (talk) 19:37, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-10-14T19:37:00.000Z","author":"MilborneOne","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-MilborneOne-2010-10-14T19:37:00.000Z-Colonel_Warden-2010-10-13T06:53:00.000Z","replies":["c-Yuriybrisk-2010-10-24T19:35:00.000Z-MilborneOne-2010-10-14T19:37:00.000Z"]}}-->
As an original author of the template I can only say, that not the word "International" guided me as a primary inclusion criteria. There're some airshows, like MAKS, where one can read Mezhdunarodny and never know that mean International in Russia. Let's do not connect the importance with one word only... And the "trade shows" usually have a fine flight programme, haven't they?.. Thank you and sorry for the late reply. --Yuriy Lapitskiy ~ 19:35, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-10-24T19:35:00.000Z","author":"Yuriybrisk","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Yuriybrisk-2010-10-24T19:35:00.000Z-MilborneOne-2010-10-14T19:37:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
