A photo of Sand Hill Road itself, or even a photo of a venture capital building on the road, would be preferable to a photo of the highway exit sign.

Yeah, I know, but the problem with Sand Hill Road is that all the buildings are recessed back from the road and hidden behind heavy landscaping (tall trees and brush). And the road itself isn't really that much to look at---Page Mill Road on the other side of Stanford is much prettier. The only way to get a really good photo of the road and all the nearby VC offices would be to hover above it in a helicopter, which might arouse a lot of suspicion due to the fact that the road is not far from Stanford's linear accelerator. Under the category of History of Sand Hill Road your explanation for the final approval of the road's widening is wrong. As a City of Menlo Park Council member in 2001, the year the road was approved for widening I think I have a correct observation of what happened. True the first pass by Stanford University to widen the road was contested by Menlo Park as our residents were worried about the increased traffic, noise and polution. Howver, not mentioned in your description was the fact that Stanford University was asking for reimbursement from the City of Menlo Park of up to $1.5 million dollars for the road work to be completed in the jurisdiction of Menlo Park. In addition, there were engineering charges of an additional $500,000. After several years of negotiation between the Council and Stanford University all costs were borne by the University. This fact had a large effect on the 3-2 vote in favor of completing the roadway. In addition, there were a number of environmental factors added to the original design such as sound walls to buffer close in residential properties and landscpae plantings to visually buffer the impact. The Stanford Golf Course was also reconfigured and a pedestrian foot bridge was realigned. Going back to your original statement does not do justice to what really happened. I would hope you would correct your statement in this regard.

The only comparison in the lead that appears to be cited to a good source is the comparison to Wall Street. I propose to delete the rest.

Also, the correct term for the industry is venture capital, not venture capitalism.
