In 2007, then-former President Carter explained his actions around this topic, showing regret but claiming he was not briefed enough and did not look enough into the topic, due to being focused on many issues. I feel this is worth a line somewhere in the article as it explains his perspective while not being excessively pro-Carter as he admits guilt.

On December 12, 1952, an accident with the experimental NRX reactor at Atomic Energy of Canada's Chalk River Laboratories caused a partial meltdown. Carter was ordered to Chalk River to lead a US maintenance crew to assist in the shutdown of the reactor. The painstaking process required each team member to don protective gear and be lowered individually into the reactor for 90 seconds at a time, limiting their exposure to radioactivity while they disassembled the crippled reactor.

According to the given source, Serge Marguet, the text pertaining to this incident as written in our article is correct. Springer says:
Serge Marguet is an expert in reactor physics at Electricité De France (EDF), the French leading utility owning a fleet of 58 nuclear reactors. EDF is one of the major companies in the world nuclear field. He has taken part, for the last 30 years, in the development of the calculation scheme of the French nuclear reactors. At the beginning of the 2000, he headed the EDF research team on severe accidents, subject on which he was appointed as expert by the European Commission, in charge of the evaluation of the 6th European Framework Programme, related to severe accidents. Serge Marguet is also teaching reactor physics at the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Bourges (France) for 15 years, as well Neutronics in the EDF Institute of Technology Transfer.
I'd say whatever Marguet writes outweighs anything "The Society for the Preservation of Canada’s Nuclear Heritage" says. I've added the words, "Carter's job, according to the CBC's reporting, was to turn a single screw, but even such a limited exposure to the very high radiation levels was dangerous", per Marguet.
