Tallest capitols

This article previously stated that the only state capitols taller than the Illinois State Capitol were the capitols in "Florida, Nebraska and Louisiana". This article says that the height of the Illinois State Capitol is 361 feet (110 meters). The article on the Florida State Capitol says that building's height is 322 feet (98.1 m). I have deleted Florida from the list of taller state capitols unless someone changes the heights stated in either article.

It looks like the coordinates for the three statehouse locations are overlapping in the top-right corner. They added that 'feature' that uses the link from the Geolinks template. Since there were 3, one for each remaining capitol, they overlapped. The image in the stained glass window in the top of the dome is that of the State Seal used prior to 1868 when the present Seal was adopted. The words "State Sovereignty, National Union", which is Illinois's State Motto, appear on a ribbon or banner held in an eagle's beak on both State Seals and in the stained glass image. On the old, pre-1868 Seal, the spread-winged eagle faces the viewer, heraldic shield on his chest, and the banner bearing the State Motto appearing horizontally in the upper part of the Seal, clutched in the eagle's beak. On the present State Seal, the various heraldic devices have been re-arranged, the eagle seen in partial silhouette, perched on the shield, wings folded, beak clutching the banner which now runs from lower left to the top center of the Seal. Although the words "National Union" appear above "State Sovereignty" within the circular Seal, reading the banner in the normal left-to-right manner still yields "State Sovereignty, National Union". The Legislature, while approving the new Seal in 1868 did not change the State Motto. The re-design of the Seal was done by the Secretary of State at that time. This information is in "The Handbook of Illinois Government" available from the Illinois Secretary of State's office.
