Isn't it sad when so called civil people become so civilized that other cultures become such an oddity to them that they place their own kind on such morbid displays? Somebody should be made responsible for this prime example of the Western (so-called) civilization's inhumanity to man. Even if it's over a hundred years late! It's the most tragic story of human exploitation that I've ever read.

Not to support this, mind you, but until quite recently, various circus troops (not only Western ones) had likes of "ape man", "rubber man", etc. and they were popular attractions.
