Romanian cinematographer (born 1975)
Mihai Mălaimare Jr. (Romanian pronunciation: [miˈhaj məlajˈmare];[1] born 1975) is a Romanian cinematographer.[2] Born in Bucharest, he is the son of the Romanian actor and former politician Mihai Mălaimare [ro]. He studied at the Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest.[3]
He has been the cinematographer on films directed by Francis Ford Coppola, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Taika Waititi, among others.[4] Mălaimare Jr. was nominated for Best Cinematography at the 24th Independent Spirit Awards in 2008, for Youth Without Youth.
In 2023, he became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.[5]
