Mees Röttgering (born 7 July 2007) is a Dutch tennis player. He has a career high ranking of No. 800 achieved on 23 September 2024.[1]
Early life
He was born in Wanssum in the Venray region of the Dutch province of Limburg, he began training in tennis when he was six years-old. He later attended a LOOT school specially set up for young athletes in collaboration with Sint-Joriscollege in Eindhoven.[2][3]
Career
He began to be trained by Jochem Mol in Veldhoven in 2014. Ten years later they began to also be advised by former professional Sjeng Schalken.[4][5][6]
He reached the semi finals of the senior Dutch Championships in 2023 as a 16 year-old, where he was defeated by Gijs Brouwer.[7] He reached the semi-finals in the boys' singles of the 2024 Australian Open, and a futures final in Sharm El Sheikh in February 2024 to become the only 16 year-old inside the top 1000 male rankings.[8][9][10] In doing so, he became involved the youngest Dutch man ever to reach a singles final on the ITF World Tennis Tour.[11]
