Khalid Kareem (born April 28, 1998) is an American professional football linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Notre Dame and was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 5th round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Early life

Kareem attended Harrison High School in Farmington, Michigan.[1] He committed to the University of Notre Dame to play college football.[2][3]

College career

Kareem played at Notre Dame from 2016 to 2019.[4][5][6] During his career, he had 108 tackles and 13 sacks.

Cincinnati Bengals

Kareem was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 147th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL draft.[9] He was placed on the active/non-football injury list on July 27, 2020.[10] He was activated on August 23, 2020. In Week 11 against the Washington Football Team, Kareem recorded his first career sack on Alex Smith during the 20–9 loss.[11]

On September 2, 2021, Kareem was placed on injured reserve.[12] He was activated on October 30.

On September 1, 2022, Kareem was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.[13] He was activated on October 10, then waived the next day and re-signed to the practice squad.[14][15]

Indianapolis Colts

On November 22, 2022, Kareem was signed by the Indianapolis Colts off the Bengals practice squad.[16] He was waived on August 29, 2023.[17]

Chicago Bears

On August 30, 2023, Kareem was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Bears.[18] He was placed on injured reserve on September 23. He was activated on October 29,[19] but released two days later and re-signed to the practice squad.[20] He signed a reserve/future contract on January 16, 2024.[21] He was released on August 23.

Atlanta Falcons

On August 30, 2024, Kareem was signed to the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons.[22]
