Alessandra Joan Thiele (Italian pronunciation: [alesˈsandra dʒon ˈtiːle, - ˈdʒɔːan -]; born 21 September 1991), known professionally as Joan Thiele, is an Italian singer-songwriter.

Early life

Alessandra Joan Thiele was born in Desenzano del Garda, Brescia, to an Italian mother from Naples and Swiss father of Colombian descent.[1][2] She has one brother.[3]

She spent her early childhood in Cartagena, Colombia, before moving back to Desenzano del Garda with her mother after her parents separated.[4] At the age of 18, she moved to London. She later moved back to Italy and settled in Milan.[5]

Career

Thiele began pursuing music as a busker at the age of 16.[4] In 2015, she released a cover of Drake's "Hotline Bling". The following year, she released her first extended play, Joan Thiele.[6] In 2018, she performed at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas.[7] Later that year, she released her first studio album, Tango.[8]

"Le vacanze", her first single in Italian, was released in 2019.[9] In March 2020, she released Operazione oro, her second extended play and first in Italian.[1][10] In September 2021, she was featured on the song "Proiettili (ti mangio il cuore)" by Elodie, included in the soundtrack of the film Burning Hearts, and was awarded with the David di Donatello for Best Original Song.[5][11]

In December 2024, she was announced as one of the participants in the Sanremo Music Festival 2025.[12]
