Izna (Korean: 이즈나; RR: Ijeuna; MR: Ijŭna; stylized in all lowercase) is a South Korean girl group under WakeOne, produced by Teddy Park, that was formed through the Mnet survival show I-Land 2: N/a. The group consists of seven members: Mai, Jeemin, Jiyoon, Koko, Sarang, Jungeun, and Saebi.[1] They debuted on November 25, 2024, with the extended play (EP) N/a.
Name
The group 'Izna', which was created through tests and competitions on I-Land 2: N/a to complete 'I(N/a)' by combining 'N', which has unpredictable diversity, and 'a', which has infinite possibilities, means 'Whenever, Wherever, Whatever = Me'.[2]
On the final episode of Mnet's K-pop audition program I-Land 2 that aired on July 4, 2024, the new girl group who will be produced by Teddy Park confirmed that Choi Jungeun, Bang Jeemin, Yoon Jiyoon, Koko, Ryu Sarang, Mai, and Jeong Saebi were selected as the debut members.[3]
2024–present: Introduction and debut
In July 2024, according to their agency WakeOne, Izna was unusually selected as the model for HK Inno.N [ko]'s slow-aging skincare brand 'Be Wants' before the final members and group name were announced the day before. In addition, it is said that Izna is receiving love calls for pictorials from various magazines.[4] Also, it was reported by Ten Asia that Izna would be performing at KCON LA 2024 held in Los Angeles, California from July 26 to 28 to meet North American fans even before their official debut. This KCON stage would likely be their first stage since they formed through the survival show.[5]
In November 2024, WakeOne announced that Izna would be making their official debut on November 25,[6] with their first EPN/a.[7] The group made their debut performance on the second day of the 2024 MAMA Awards, which was held at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan on November 22.[8]
