Snibbs is an American footwear company headquartered in Los Angeles, California, that designs stylish, slip-resistant work shoes for people who spend long hours on their feet, with a focus on hospitality, healthcare, and other service industries. The company was founded by chef and entrepreneur Daniel Shemtob, orthopedic surgeon Jason Snibbe, and Haik Zadoyan, and publicly launched its first product in April 2022 after several years of development.[1][2] The idea for Snibbs originated after Shemtob, a chef, suffered a kitchen injury.

History

The concept for Snibbs originated after Shemtob suffered a painful back injury from a slip and fall in the kitchen while preparing to open his restaurant, Hatch Yakitori + Bar, in Los Angeles. He partnered with orthopedic surgeon Jason Snibbe and Haik Zadoyan to develop a slip-resistant shoe designed for restaurant kitchens and similar work environments.[2][3]

The three spent approximately four years developing their first shoe, the SpaceCloud sneaker, before publicly launching the brand in April 2022. Early development emphasized slip resistance and the use of recycled or eco-friendly materials.[1]

Products

Snibbs's initial product was the SpaceCloud, a slip-resistant work sneaker aimed at hospitality and service workers.[1] In April 2025, the company released its first boot, the Pro, designed for kitchen and outdoor work settings; the brand said the boot was made almost entirely from recycled and sustainable materials.[4]

Collaborations

Snibbs released "The Nancy," a clog co-designed with Los Angeles chef Nancy Silverton, on October 17, 2025. The shoe's non-slip outsole pattern was inspired by pasta shapes.[5][6][7]

Snibbs also partnered with apron-maker Hedley & Bennett on a kitchen sneaker collaboration launched in February 2025, with proceeds benefiting Los Angeles food and beverage workers affected by the January 2025 wildfires.[8][9]

Community and philanthropy

Snibbs has supported its community since shortly after its 2020 launch, when Shemtob used his food truck, The Lime Truck, to distribute free meals and pairs of Snibbs shoes to frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.[10] The company launched Sole Support, a program offering free meals and footwear to healthcare workers nominated by the public, and ABC7 later featured individual honorees, including Josette Patton, a nursing supervisor at Southern California Hospital in Culver City.[11] "They're putting themselves in danger for our well-being," Shemtob told ABC7.[11]

After Shemtob lost his home in the January 2025 Palisades Fire, Snibbs took part in disaster-relief efforts across the Los Angeles area. In a single night, Shemtob and his crew distributed about 750 meals and 200 pairs of Snibbs shoes at relief sites, according to the Associated Press.[12] At Altadena distribution sites, Snibbs shoes were handed out alongside meals in partnership with World Central Kitchen, per LAist.[13] The Hollywood Reporter later included Snibbs in a roundup of Los Angeles restaurant-community wildfire relief efforts, citing food and shoe distribution at pop-up sites such as the Rose Bowl.[14]

By late 2025, Snibbs had donated more than 1,000 pairs of shoes to hospitality workers through its community giveback program, Entrepreneur reported.[3] The program offers $500 grants and free footwear to service-industry workers facing hardship, according to SoCalPulse.[7]

Reception

The Snibbs Clog has appeared in several kitchen-footwear roundups. Food & Wine gave it a "Best Clog" designation in a 2024 test of kitchen shoes, highlighting its comfortable, non-slip sole for standing during long shifts.[15] It was included again in a 2025 roundup by Bon Appétit, which pointed to its ASTM F2913 slip-resistance certification and its grip on wet floors.[16]

WearTesters, an independent footwear-review outlet, tested the SpaceCloud across food-service, retail, and hospitality scenarios in 2022 and scored it 8.5 out of 10.[17]
