Draft:RunThrough

  • Comment: Good work so far on this article. However, unfortunately, in order to prove notability, an article needs to references 2-3 sources which are reliable, independent, secondary sources, which talk about the subject of the Wikipedia article at length. So far the references you have are mostly either from organisations connected to Runthrough, or else routine mentions of events etc. your best chance to achieve notability would be to find some more articles directly profiling the company in general media outlets. Good luck and keep up the good work 👍 Absurdum4242 (talk) 13:49, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

RunThrough is a mass-participation running events company founded in 2013 by Matt Wood and Ben Green.[1][2][3][4] The company began organising road running, trail running, and triathlon events in the United Kingdom and has since expanded into international markets including France, Spain, Switzerland, Qatar, and the United States.[5][6] RunThrough staged more than 350 events and attracted more than 400,000 participants in 2025.[6]

History

RunThrough was established in 2013 by Matt Wood and Ben Green, both former competitive middle-distance runners.[7][3][4] The company's first event was staged at Bushy Park.[2] The company's participant numbers rose from 211,000 in 2023 to more than 320,000 in 2024, and it staged more than 350 events with over 400,000 participants in 2025.[6]

Founders

RunThrough was founded by Matt Wood and Ben Green, who competed in middle-distance running before moving into business and event organisation.[1][2][3] Both attended Loughborough University and drew on their athletics backgrounds when establishing the company.[2][3]

Wood later became involved in athletics administration and race organisation, including serving as chair of Loughborough Athletics Club.[3] As an athlete, he competed for England on multiple occasions and won two national age-group titles in the junior ranks.[8][9] Green also competed internationally and recorded a time of 1:47.47 over 800 metres.[10]

Growth and international expansion

RunThrough initially focused on UK road-race events before expanding into additional formats and overseas markets.[4] Its portfolio includes RunThrough Trails and international race brands operating in Europe, the United States, Qatar, and Australia.[11][12][13][5] Media coverage in 2025 and 2026 reported the company's expansion into France, Spain, Switzerland, Qatar, and the United States, with further plans reported for Germany, Italy, and Australia.[5][6]

RunThrough Europe organises 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon races in locations including Berlin, and RunThrough Qatar organises the Doha Running Festival at the Lusail International Circuit.[12][13]

In October 2025, endurance.biz reported that RunThrough's participant numbers had grown from 211,000 in 2023 to over 320,000 in 2024, and that the company was seeking its first title sponsor as it expanded into international markets.[6] In January 2026, The Times reported that 405,000 people had entered a RunThrough event in 2025, a figure the newspaper noted was four to five times the entry numbers of the Great North Run or the London Marathon.[5]

Partnerships

RunThrough works with several sponsors and partners across sport retail, nutrition, and fundraising.[14] RunThrough partnered with Nuun as part of the brand's UK and Ireland market launch.[15] Nike and SportsShoes.com sponsored RunThrough's 2025 Altrincham 10K.[16] Descente partnered with RunThrough on the Windsor Triathlon.[17]

Notable events

RunThrough organises a programme of events across the UK, including the Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon and the Surrey Half Marathon.[18][19] Coverage of specific races has included the Wolverhampton 10K,[20] the Altrincham 10K,[16] the Royal Windsor Triathlon,[21][22] the Thorpe Park Triathlon,[23] a new half marathon in Darlington,[24] the London Half and 10K at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park,[25] the Kettering Half Marathon and 5K,[26] and the Fulham 10K.[26]

In addition to race organisation, RunThrough operates RunThrough Kit and RunThrough Coach.[27][28]
