PatientPoint is an American health technology company headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, with an Innovation Center in New York City. The company operates the largest point-of-care digital network in the United States, connecting patients, providers, and health brands with content across a network of 30,000 physician offices and 125,000 providers.[1] Founded in 1987, PatientPoint remains a privately held company; in 2025, a definitive agreement was signed for its acquisition by the private equity firm Advent International.
History
The business that became PatientPoint was established in 1987 in Cincinnati by Mike Collette. For its first decades, the company (then operating under the name Healthy Advice Networks) provided in-office patient education programs, such as waiting-room television monitors and printed health brochures. In 2007, private equity firm L Catterton acquired a significant stake in the company, supporting its expansion in the point-of-care media market.
In February 2012, Healthy Advice Networks acquired a smaller health IT firm called PatientPoint, which offered electronic check-in and care coordination software for clinics. Following the merger, Healthy Advice Networks rebranded as PatientPoint later that year.
In May 2021, PatientPoint merged with its Chicago-based rival Outcome Health to form a new entity, PatientPoint Health Technologies. The merger combined two leading companies in the point-of-care media sector and was valued at roughly $600 million, including debt.[2] Following the deal, the Outcome Health brand was retired, and the unified company operated under the PatientPoint name.
In August 2025, PatientPoint announced that Advent International, a global private equity investor, would acquire it. Advent agreed to purchase the company from the L Catterton–Littlejohn investor group; financial terms were not disclosed.[3] In April 2026, Jim Lang, chairman of the board, was named interim CEO following the departure of Sean Slovenski.[4]
Products and Services
PatientPoint develops and operates a range of point-of-care patient engagement products used in outpatient healthcare facilities. Its primary offerings center on digital content delivery systems that educate patients and facilitate healthcare advertising in clinical settings. These include waiting room screens that display health programming and sponsored messages, interactive exam-room screens for patient education, staff meeting room displays, and check-in applications that integrate with medical practice EHR systems. The company offers specialty-specific programs in oncology, dermatology, primary care, cardiology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, neurology, and eye care.
In March 2026, PatientPoint launched PatientPoint Health Audiences, a programmatic buying offering extending its point-of-care reach to digital channels. Its solutions reach more than 750 million patient visits each year.[5] Sponsor and partner organizations have included Pfizer, Sanofi, Merck, Bristol Myers Squibb, P&G, and the American Diabetes Association.
PatientPoint produces patient education content recognized by the Digital Health Association, which administers the National Health Information Award and the Digital Health Awards program. In the Spring 2026 session of the Digital Health Awards, PatientPoint received seven honors, including two Gold awards for a Medicare article series and patient education on fluoride, two Silver awards for content on GLP-1 nutrition and vaccine information, and additional honors for content covering post-traumatic stress, GLP-1 medication guidance, and cancer survivorship.[6]
Corporate Affairs
PatientPoint is a privately held company. Its corporate headquarters are located in Cincinnati, Ohio, with an Innovation Center in New York City. The company has received backing from several private equity firms over its history. L Catterton was an early investor, first acquiring a majority stake in 2007. In 2019, Littlejohn & Co. invested in the business, and together L Catterton and Littlejohn remained the principal owners following the 2021 merger. In 2022, founder Mike Collette transitioned from CEO to chairman of the board, and Sean Slovenski was appointed chief executive officer.[7]
Industry Presence
PatientPoint executives contribute regularly to healthcare trade media and industry conferences. The company's Chief Commercial Officer and EVP of Commercial GPO and Oncology Development appeared on the MM+M Podcast at the American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting to discuss workforce trends in oncology and the growing influence of community oncology and group purchasing organizations.
In 2026, Elissa Guerra, Executive Vice President of Client Solutions, was named PM360 ELITE Sales MVP by PM360 magazine.[8] Kimberly Coar, Executive Vice President of Client Strategy, was named PM360 ELITE Strategist in the same year.[9]
Workplace and Culture
PatientPoint is a remote-first company with employees in more than 30 states.[10] The company offers an employee development program that includes internal learning courses, leadership training, stretch assignments, and cross-training. Employee benefits include health and wellness resources, flexible work arrangements, and employee resource groups.[11]
PatientPoint operates several internal employee programs, including Culture Collective, focused on inclusion and values alignment; the Women's Professional Network (WPN), which supports the advancement of women within the organization; and the PatientPoint Foundation, a corporate philanthropy initiative focused on community health.
