PDF Genie is a web-based PDF processing toolkit developed by Loop Mobile FZCO, a software company based in the United Arab Emirates.[1] It offers more than 45 distinct tools for working with PDF files, including merging, splitting, compressing, redacting, signing, and converting between PDF and other document formats.[2] The platform performs the majority of its operations in the user's web browser via WebAssembly libraries, so files do not leave the user's device for most operations.
History
PDF Genie was launched in 2024 by Loop Mobile FZCO, a UAE-based software company.[1] The platform was developed as a browser-based alternative to desktop PDF software, with a stated emphasis on file privacy through client-side processing. Native iOS and Android applications followed the web release, distributed through the Apple App Store[3] and Google Play.[4]
Features
PDF Genie's tool catalog covers six functional categories:[2]
- Organization: merge, split, rotate, delete pages, organize, extract pages, Bates numbering for legal discovery, multiple-pages-per-sheet (N-up).
- Optimization: compress, OCR, repair, conversion to PDF/A for archival, comparison.
- Conversion to PDF: from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG / PNG images, HTML, and scanned camera input.
- Conversion from PDF: to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG, PNG, plain text, and Markdown.
- Editing: sign, redact, watermark, page numbers, metadata editing, in-place text and shape annotations, flatten.
- Security: password protection (AES-256), unlock.
- Artificial-intelligence-assisted: document summarization, translation across 50+ languages, conversational query, automatic personally identifiable information detection for redaction, AI form-filling, contract review, and structured data extraction from invoices.
The AI-assisted tools are powered by Anthropic's Claude models. Optical character recognition is performed by Tesseract running in WebAssembly. Office-format conversions use LibreOffice on the server.
Distribution
In addition to the website, PDF Genie is available as:
- A Chrome Web Store browser extension that adds a right-click "PDF Genie" submenu to PDF links on web pages.[5]
- An iOS application distributed through the Apple App Store.[3]
- An Android application distributed through Google Play.[4]
Reception
The PDF Genie iOS and Android applications have received public reviews on their respective app store listings. As of May 2026, the combined average rating across the App Store and Google Play is 4.6 out of 5 across approximately 120 user reviews.[3][4]
