History
Its first official match took place on September 2, 2007, against Niger in Ouagadougou.
Burkina Faso qualified for the first major competition in its history by winning the second round of qualifying for the 2022 African Women's Cup of Nations against Guinea-Bissau on 23 February 2022.

Mariatou Koné is the head coach of the Burkina Faso women's national football team. She was appointed to the role in January 2023. Koné is a former Burkinabé international footballer who played as a defender. She has extensive coaching experience, having previously coached the Burkina Faso women's under-20 team and the Burkina Faso women's national beach soccer team.
Abdoulaye Sawadogo is the assistant coach of the Burkina Faso women's national football team. He was appointed to the role in January 2023. Sawadogo is a former Burkinabé international footballer who played as a midfielder. He has also coached at the youth level, having previously coached the Burkina Faso men's under-17 team.
Souleymane Ouedraogo is the goalkeeper coach of the Burkina Faso women's national football team. He was appointed to the role in January 2023. Ouedraogo is a former Burkinabé international goalkeeper. He has also coached at the youth level, having previously coached the Burkina Faso men's under-17 team.
