Brett Tombul (née Cooper; born October 12, 2001) is an American political commentator, media personality, and actress.[2] She hosted the YouTube channel The Comments Section with Brett Cooper, produced by The Daily Wire, from March 2022 until December 2024.

Early life

Cooper was born on October 12, 2001,[3] in Bellingham, Washington.[4] She was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. When she was ten years of age, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she began to pursue a professional acting career.[5][6]

Cooper was homeschooled for most of her childhood. She studied at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), from where she obtained her major in English literature. She also obtained a minor in business from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business.[7]

Career

2012–2022

For almost ten years, Cooper had roles in the entertainment industry.[2] She participated in films and television series.

As an actress, Cooper starred in three films and five television series prior to signing with The Daily Wire. She eventually reacted to her old acting scenes in a seven minute YouTube video titled, "Brett Cooper REACTS to Brett Cooper…?"[8]

Cooper has written for the Foundation for Economic Education and was an ambassador for PragerU and Turning Point USA.[2][5][9]

The Comments Section with Brett Cooper (2022–2024)

In January 2022, Cooper signed with The Daily Wire to start a new podcast called The Comments Section with Brett Cooper.[10] According to the "About" section of the show's YouTube channel, it is a "viral content and news review show."[11]

The Week described Cooper's show as "aim[ing] to capture a Gen Z audience on TikTok and YouTube."[12] According to Rachel Leishman at The Mary Sue in October 2023: "The trailer for the show sets it up as if she is reading comments and making a statement on what 'leftists' are saying or pushing back against liberal ideals, but in reality, she just picks a topic of conversation and shares her opinions."[13]

The Comments Section with Brett Cooper ultimately became one of the most successful YouTube channels owned by The Daily Wire.[14][15]

On October 26, 2024, Cooper’s producer Reagan Conrad would begin to be a guest host on her show.[16] Eventually, Conrad would appear in more episodes and ultimately become the new host of The Comments Section.[17][18]

Cooper departed from The Daily Wire on December 10, 2024. It has been stated from Cooper that her decision to leave was on her own accord.[19] After her departure, she created a new YouTube channel under the handle @bbrettcooper.

Personal life

In October 2023, Cooper became engaged to Alex Tombul,[20] the founder of an advertising agency.[21] They married in April 2024.[21][22]
