2023 Mutua Madrid Open – Women's singles
2023 tennis event results
Aryna Sabalenka defeated Iga Świątek in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Madrid Open.[ 1] It was her fifth WTA 1000 title. This marked the first time since 2013 that the top two seeds contested the Madrid Open final. It was also the first time since 2000 that the top two players on the WTA Tour contested back-to-back finals, after Świątek won in Stuttgart the week prior (the last time this occurred was when Lindsay Davenport and Martina Hingis contested the 2000 Indian Wells and Miami finals).[citation needed ]
Ons Jabeur was the reigning champion,[ 2] but withdrew due to a left calf injury.[ 3]
