Ο Μπεν Χεκτ (αγγλικά: Ben Hecht [προφορά: /ˈhɛkt/, 28 Φεβρουαρίου 1894 - 18 Απριλίου 1964) ήταν Αμερικανός σεναριογράφος, σκηνοθέτης, παραγωγός, δραματουργός, δημοσιογράφος και μυθιστοριογράφος. Κατά τη διάρκεια της καριέρα του, έγραψε περί τα 35 βιβλία και μερικά από τα πιο διασκεδαστικά σενάρια και θεατρικά στις ΗΠΑ. Συμμετείχε σε πολλές ταινίες είτε μόνος είτε σε συνεργασία, οι οποίες φτάνουν τις 70, και έλαβε βραβεία και υποψηφιότητες για αυτές.

Σε ηλικία 16 ετών, πήγε στο Σικάγο και άρχισε να γράφει για το οποιοδήποτε θέμα.[5] Ενώ, τέλη του 1910 και αρχές του 1920, είχε γίνει ήδη ένας δημοφιλής δημοσιογράφος και μία λογοτεχνική φιγούρα. Στη δεκαετία του 1920, συνέγραψε με τον Τσαρλς ΜακΆρθουρ, το The Front Page, το οποίο έγινε μεγάλη επιτυχία στο Μπρόντγουεϊ. Το Dictionary of Literary Biography - American Screenwriters, τον αποκάλεσε έναν από τους σπουδαιότερους σεναριογράφους του κινηματογράφου. Ο Χεκτ, έχει υπάρξει πέντε φορές υποψήφιος για Όσκαρ Καλύτερου Σεναρίου, κερδίζοντάς το δύο φορές, μία για το Underworld (1927) και μία για το The Scoundrel (1935). Το πρώτο του το πήρε στην πρώτη τελετή Όσκαρ,[6][7] κι έτσι έγινε γρήγορα ο πιο ακριβοπληρωμένος σεναριογράφος στο Χόλιγουντ, εκείνη την εποχή.[8]

Λίγο πριν το Ολοκαύτωμα, έγινε δραστήριος Σιωνιστής, γράφοντας αρκετά σενάρια για την κατάσταση, που βίωναν οι Εβραίοι στην Ευρώπη.[9] Κατά τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες της καριέρας του, ξεκίνησε να γράφει ανώνυμα, για να αποφύγει το μποϊκοτάρισμα της δουλειάς του, από τους Βρετανούς, καθώς είχε αρχίσει να υποστηρίζει παραστρατιωτικές οργανώσεις, οι οποίες μάχονταν τα βρετανικά στρατεύματα στην Παλαιστίνη. Μάλιστα, ένα πλοίο που μετέφερε προμήθειες στην Παλαιστίνη, πήρε το όνομά του: S. S. Ben Hecht. 19 χρόνια μετά τον θάνατό του, μπήκε στο American Theater Hall of Fame.[10]
